Entry of another vaccine in the country: Central government’s affidavit in Supreme Court, Zydus Cadila’s vaccine will come soon for children aged 12 to 18 years

After Covaxin, another indigenous vaccine is going to be entered soon. Indian pharma company Zydus Cadila’s vaccine will be available soon for the age group of 12 to 18 years. The Central Government has given this information in an affidavit given to the Supreme Court on Friday.

According to NDTV, in response to the questions raised by the Supreme Court on May 31 regarding Kovid management, the Ministry of Health has given a 375-page affidavit. The court had questioned the government regarding the preparations for the vaccination of people of all ages.

Earlier on June 18, Bhaskar had told that in the next 10 days in the country, the vaccine prepared by the Indian company Zydus Cadila to prevent corona infection will be available for the age group of 12 to 18 years. This vaccine, developed by Zydus Cadila, will also be effective for all people above the age of 18 years. It was informed by Zydus to higher government officials that it would soon apply for approval for emergency use of its vaccine in India.

Information about the interim results of the third phase has been given
Information has also been given to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) regarding the interim results of the third phase from the company. It was also told that any day permission for emergency use would be sought from the company. Within 2-3 days of the receipt of the application, a meeting of the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) can be convened and permission can be given on the basis of the report of the third phase results presented by the company.

Initially there will be 3 doses of vaccine
The vaccine of Zydus Cadila will be of 3 doses in the initial phase. But, in the coming time, work is also going on to make it a two-dose vaccine like other vaccines. Highly placed sources in the government say that the price of the vaccine has not been decided yet, but it will be economical. The company has a capacity to manufacture one crore doses per month.

26 crore children of 12 to 18 years, till now there was no vaccine for them
Zydus Cadila got permission for the third phase trial in January-2021. In this, trials were conducted on 28 thousand people. This is the first vaccine prepared from DNA technology. The population of children in the age group of 12 to 18 years ranges from 25 to 26 crores in the country. There is no vaccine available for them in the country yet.

Vaccines from Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson have been recognized as safe for children in many countries. But till now both are not available in India.
