England Cricket The heat of the team has started under the leadership of new captain Ben Stokes. In the first Test of the 4-match series, The Three Lions defeated New Zealand in a spectacular fashion. The match was unexpected as both the teams lost cheaply in their first innings. England chased down a total of 277 runs against a dangerous Kiwi bowling attack on a difficult track.

The hosts had a difficult start to the innings as the top order once again failed to give a good start. When Stokes came to bat, the situation was dire for England as the score was 69/4. A positive Ben Stokes, along with Joe Root, stabilized the ship. Stokes got out after scoring a brilliant half-century. This did not stop Root from scoring freely as he scored his 26th Test century and became only the second England batsman to reach the 10,000-run milestone.
Twitter celebrated Root’s success with well wishes and messages. The Twitter handle of the England cricket team posted a video of Root walking through the Lord’s gallery to the dressing room. As he walked through the hall, Roots received a warm welcome from his teammates and support staff members. “A hero welcome to The Root,” read the caption.

Joe Root’s grit and determination put England in line on the fourth day of the first Test at Lord’s. His unbeaten knock of 115 runs was a testament to his class and determination. Roots’ century will also be a message for his critics who questioned his technique and adaptability.
