Stuart Broad’s brilliance brought England back in the first Test against New Zealand. As Day 3 began, New Zealand were the only team to score a century with two sets of batsmen. His score also looked formidable and to make it worse, Darryl Mitchell made his score very early. The game was slipping away from England when Broad dismissed Mitchell with a swinger. Colin de Grandhomme was run out on the very next ball and Broad hit the right back, removing Kyle Jamieson.

It all started in the 84th over when Mitchell chased down an outswinger and handed a simple catch to wicketkeeper Ben Fox. On the very next ball, Grandhomme was distracted and saw his stumps fly away thanks to a brilliant throw from Jonny Bairstow. Then came the wicket of Kyle Jamieson who got cleaned up. Unfortunately, Tom Blundell, who was also approaching a century at Lord’s, was dismissed lbw by James Anderson for 96.

Earlier, both Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell were eyeing a century at Lord’s after putting New Zealand in excellent shape on the second day of the first Test against England on Friday.
In a match where bowlers from both sides were at the top, the pair forged an unbroken partnership of 180 World The Test champions scored 236 for four in their second innings at stumps, following a lead of 227 when they came on 56 for four with New Zealand.
Mitchell was 97 not out and Blundell was 90 not out – the first two fifties of the match – with both now equaling New Zealand’s fifth-wicket record against England set by Martin Crowe and Shane Thomson at Lord’s in 1994.
He compiled the first century partnership of the match in classic Test style, displaying a sound defense while punishing anything loose or too full.
