England captain Eoin Morgan’s form remained a matter of concern as the visitors scored an unbeaten 2-0 ODI series win against the Netherlands at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amsterdam on Sunday, 19 June.

In a rain-hit match, England chased down 236 runs in 41 overs to win by six wickets. Opener Jason Roy struck an aggressive half-century to get England off to a good start with Phil Salt, who continued his good form from the first game.

Salt scored 77 off 54 in an aggressive innings, making another statement for Eoin Morgan to consider his place in England’s main squad ahead of the ODI World Cup.

The duo put on 139 runs for the first wicket to take the game away from the Netherlands. After Roy departed, England lost three quick wickets to Salt, Eoin Morgan and Liam Livingstone, but David Malan and Moeen Ali put England on the line. Change to extra.

Morgan’s lack of form is plaguing fans, raising questions about his place. The legendary captain turned to white-ball cricket in England and led them to the World Cup, but at this point it seems his aging bones are taking away more than he can chew.

Earlier in the first innings, the Netherlands were guided by skipper Scott Edwards’ 78 of 73 to put up a decent total on the board. The home team does not get a chance to play the best teams in the world, and hence they were no match against the defending world champions. The team showed improvement in all departments in the second game and are expected to grab some glory in the third and final ODI of the series.
