A man was shot dead Friday outside the entrance of a Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego with a “knife and with hostile intent.”
The man was fatally shot by a military police officer at the entrance of Gate 5 when he got out of his vehicle and ignored verbal orders to stop, MCRD officials said.
“Base personnel issued verbal orders to stop the vehicle, upon which the individual exited his vehicle and approached with a knife and hostile intent,” 1st Lieutenant Joshua Collins said in a statement. Fox News,

The incident happened around 11:50 am. Emergency services were called and at 12:16 pm the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A red tarp has been put up to stop the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the man who was driving at the base where he has been lying at the gate since this afternoon, and his license plate has been removed.
The Gate 5 entrance, located at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Washington Street, is listed as a civilian entrance.
The fatal situation is currently being investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigation Service who have sealed off the area.
NCIS issued a statement saying, “In honor of the ongoing investigation, we are not able to provide additional details at this time.”
Marine Corps Recruit Depot personnel did not respond to DailyMail.com for a comment.
The military base is located north of San Diego International Airport. It serves as the first training stop for enlisted recruits entering the United States Marine Corps on the West Coast.
