Titled ‘ProofChain’, the solution enables third-party verifiers to validate the work experience of candidates working at CSM Technologies across all locations of the company’s operations.

For any company, conducting a background check on a candidate is a cumbersome and time-consuming process, which is usually outsourced to third-party agencies. Now, CSM Tech, an Indian IT company, has designed a process that eases the process of background verification of employees, especially their work experience, according to a statement.

This unique, immutable and tamper-proof solution, named ‘Proofchain’, enables third-party verifiers to validate the work experience of candidates working at CSM Technologies across all locations of the company’s operations, the statement said.

CSM Tech is an Indian IT consulting company with operations in Africa, North America and Dubai.

“CSM Tech…is launching this blockchain-based employee credentialing system at a time when the IT landscape is affected by increasing cases of submitting fake credentials such as educational qualifications and work experience to get job offers in reputed companies. A few months ago, top IT consulting firm Accenture was known for involuntary attrition (a euphemism for dismissal) of employees who falsified their testimonials on work history,” the statement said.

It added that amid the fear of talent crunch and skilled digital talent joining competing companies, IT companies usually induct candidates first and do certification later.

The company said the system has been developed on Hyperledger Fabric, an open-source blockchain platform. Since the employee credential system is underpinned by blockchain technology, there is no scope for tampering or alteration of employee data or records. The company has already transferred work experience data and other records of around 3,500 of its former employees to the blockchain platform.

Under this system, third-party verifiers are given a log-in ID and password. CSM Tech’s Human Resources department makes the decision on whether they accept or decline a request made by a third-party verifier. The process is completed in a period of seven to 15 days.

Priyadarshi Nanu Pani, Founder and CEO, CSM Tech, said, “We are delighted to introduce this breakthrough solution for authenticating employee credentials. Blockchain is the go-to technology for data security and record verification. We are sure that with this blockchain-enabled system, we will not only ease the employee verification process but also set a new benchmark for large-scale blockchain platform adoption for IT companies onboarding talent with verified credentials.”

Proof Chain System is integrated with ERP system of CSM Tech. To date, the blockchain-powered platform has received over 100 requests for employee record verification. Third-party agencies have mandated verification on the CSM proofchain platform for major IT employers such as TCS, Infosys, MindTree, Accenture, and IBM.
