Employees and engineers of the power sector will hold a four-day ‘Satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from Tuesday in protest against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021. On the call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), Shailendra Dubey, President of Electricity Employees All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) said here that the Central Government’s unilateral decision to pass the Electricity (Amendment) Bill in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. Will do Satyagraha against the declaration.

He said that the power sector workers of northern region would participate on August 3, eastern and northeastern region on August 4, western region on August 5 and southern region on August 6.

He said that they are agitating against the one-sided stand of the central government to get the bill passed in Parliament.

He said that many provisions of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 are anti-people and anti-employees and if implemented, it will have far-reaching consequences.

Stating that the bill should not be passed in the Parliament in haste and should be referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy, he said key stakeholders of the power sector, including consumers and power employees, were given a fair opportunity to express their views. should go. Before the Bill is introduced in the Parliament.

He said that after four days of satyagraha in Delhi, about 15 lakh power workers and engineers will go on a one-day strike/boycott of work across the country on August 10.

He said that if the government introduces the bill before August 10, the strike will be postponed and all power workers and engineers will be forced to go on strike on the same day when the bill will be introduced in Parliament.
