Tripura Elections 2023: Candidates will now be allowed to submit nomination papers till January 30. Scrutiny will be done on January 31 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 2.

Election commission of India (ECI) on Saturday issued notification for elections to the 13th Legislative Assembly of Tripura for 60 constituencies, an official said.

Candidates will now be allowed to submit nomination papers till January 30. Scrutiny will be done on January 31 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 2.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) Subhashish Bandopadhyay said that as per schedule, polling in 60 assembly constituencies will be held on February 16 and the counting of votes will take place on March 2.

Altogether 28,13,478 voters are eligible to exercise their democratic right in the upcoming elections. A record 65,044 new voters were included in the final electoral roll.

Webcasting will be done at all 3,328 polling stations to ensure free and fair elections. “All polling stations have been provided with assured minimum facilities – drinking water, electricity, toilets and ramps,” he said.

The ACEO said security has been beefed up across the northeastern state and central paramilitary forces are carrying out an exercise to intrude into the area to instill confidence among voters.

Three special observers appointed by the Election Commission to oversee the security arrangements in the poll-bound state are arriving soon.
