Election Commission a Slave of Those in Power, Says Uddhav

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday targeted the Election The Commission termed the Election Commission as the “slave” of the people in power for allotting the party name and election symbol to the rebel group.

Dubbing the Election Commission’Chuna LagavWeeks after he lost the party’s name and election symbol ‘bow and arrow’ to a faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray said the Election Commission can never take away the party founded by his father, the late Bal Thackeray, from him.

He said it was Bal Thackeray who stood by the Bharatiya Janata Party when it was a political “pariah” and challenged the former ally to seek votes in Maharashtra only in the name of Prime Minister. Narendra Modi Without invoking Thackeray senior.

Pointing to the huge crowd at a rally, the former chief minister said, “You (Election Commission) have taken away the party name and symbol from us, but you cannot take away the Shiv Sena from me.” Party name and symbol.

“I have nothing to offer you. I have come to seek your blessings and support,” he told the gathering.

The Khed constituency in Ratnagiri district in the coastal Konkan region is home to former Thackeray loyalist Ramdas Kadam, who has switched allegiance to the Shinde-led faction.

In a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray, the Election Commission last month allotted the name ‘Shiv Sena’ and its election symbol to the Shinde-led group, which has the support of a majority of Shiv Sena MLAs.

Thackeray said that he did not accept the decision of the Election Commission.

“If the Election Commission is not suffering from cataract, it should come and see the ground situation. The Election Commission is a ‘chosen attachment’ commission and a slave of those in power. The principle on the basis of which the Election Commission took this decision is wrong.

Thackeray said the party has appealed to the Supreme Court.

He said that BJP is trying to finish Shiv Sena in a brutal way, but will not succeed.

He said the move to destroy the Shiv Sena amounts to an attack on the unity of Marathi people as well as Hindus.

The former chief minister said, “When the BJP was an untouchable in politics, Balasaheb Thackeray stood with that party.”

He said that earlier sages and saints used to be a part of BJP but now the party is full of opportunists.

He said, ‘The largest number of corrupt people are in the BJP. First they (BJP) accuse the people of the opposition of corruption. However, those accused of corruption then join the BJP.”

Rejecting criticism that he did not step out of his house when he was chief minister (November 2019-June 2022), Thackeray said, “I did not step out because of the COVID pandemic, but I worked from home, and my The work was praised during the pandemic”.

He said that his supporters will decide whether they want him to be the party president and not the Election Commission.

People have to decide whether they want me or Eknath Shinde. I will accept the verdict of the people but not of the Election Commission. If people say they don’t want me, I will leave the way I left ‘Varsha’ (the official residence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra after resigning from the post).

Hitting out at the BJP, he said that just as Eknath Shinde “stole” my (Uddhav Thackeray’s) father, the BJP “stole” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Subhash Chandra Bose because that party had no one to trust. There is no symbol for it.

“When you see someone with a bow and arrow, he is a thief. Will you vote for him (a reference to Shinde)?” he asked the audience.

He said, ‘Earlier BJP’s platform used to be full of saints but now it is full of opportunists. I challenge the BJP to seek votes in Maharashtra only in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and not in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray.”

He appealed to his supporters to bite the dust of the BJP in the Maharashtra elections.
