Ekta Kapoor has finally opened up about the shocking findings of the Justice Hema Committee Report. On Tuesday, the producer attended the trailer launch event of her upcoming movie, The Buckingham Murders, when she expressed concern for the safety of women. Ekta mentioned a change is possible only when more women come forward and decide to join the industry, which is currently dominated by men.

“Women and their safety is not just an industry issue. We take this very seriously. Like I said, a lot of women have to now lead so that a lot of other women can join forces. Two female producers coming together, making a film, telling a crime story which is sorted by a female officer is also a step to create some kind of safety,” Ekta said.

“We have to change the agency from men to women and equalise it. We need women on top in a lot of places. For that, women also have to take an initiative. The report has come, we will read more about it. A conscious effort to keep a safe environment for women at any place of work will be made when women start to lead. I think that has to start,” she added.

Ekta was also joined by Hansal Mehta, director of The Buckingham Murders, who also added, “The responsibility is on men to ensure this equality and safety.”

It all started after the findings of the Justice Hema Committee Report were made public earlier this month. Among others, complaints have also been filed against CPI(M) MLA, actor Mukesh, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu and director Ranjith for sexual and verbal assault.

In the wake of the same, Mohanlal also recently resigned as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists. He was the president of the association and had a 17-member executive committee. However, all the members of the committee submitted their joint resignation.
