Eight of the ten men’s IPL franchises have submitted their bids for the women’s IPL (WIPL). According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo, only two teams Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore have not confirmed the submission of bids. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the winner on 25 January.

ESPNcricinfo has confirmed that Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and defending IPL champions Gujarat Titans will submit bids.

Moreover, IPL teams are not the only ones to bid, with a report in Cricbuzz claiming that Manchester United owner Avram Glazer is also interested.

The board has issued an invitation to tender (ITT) on January 3, and interested bidders have until January 13 to submit queries, with January 23 being the deadline for submission of technical bids for evaluation, which BCCI Mumbai Will organize with- ESPN Cricinfo report said that law firm Argus Partners.

The BCCI has listed ten Indian cities in the tender which allows a party to vote for more than one city. No base price has been set, and bids will be accepted for a period of 10 years (2023-32). However, an eligibility criteria listed in the tender document, the bidder must have an audited net worth of at least Rs 1000 crore as on March 31, 2022.

Consortium or Joint Venture companies are not eligible.

Glazers interested in WIPL Franchise.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the owners of Manchester United are looking to buy a franchise in the Women’s IPL (WIPL). Earlier Avram Glazer of the Glazer family, who also owns the Premier League giants, had unsuccessfully bid for over Rs 4,000 crore last year but failed to get hold of any of the latest IPL franchises. CVC Capitals later outbid them and won the Ahmedabad franchise, while Sanjiv Goenka of the RPS Group won the bid for the Lucknow franchise.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, one of the representatives of Desert Vipers, who is owned by the Glazers, confirmed that Avram Glazer is ‘seriously looking’ to buy a franchise in the upcoming league.

The board had already issued an invitation for tender and it is yet to be known who has shown interest as the last date is January 21.
