Eid Mubarak Messages, Wishes, Greetings & Facebook Status to share: The holy book of Muslims was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad on Laylat al-Qadr, one of the odd-numbered nights during the last ten days of Ramadan. Furthermore, fasting (Som) is one of the five pillars of Islam, Muslims observe it in the holy month of Ramadan.
For Muslims around the world, this holy festival marks the conclusion of the month-long Ramadan fasting (roza) from sunrise to dark. Eid ul-Fitr, then, is the celebration of the end of fasting. The date of Eid al-Fitr varies every year depending on when the new moon is visible, although it is often on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
This year, it will begin on April 21 and end on the evening of April 22, 2023.
For Eid ul-Fitr, a special salat (Islamic prayer) is offered which is made up of two rakats (units) and is often performed in a large auditorium or open area. An additional seven takbirs, which can only be recited in congregation (jama’at) and include raising the hands to the ears while saying “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is the greatest,” have been added by the Hanafi school. There is a different procedure for both Shia and Sunni Muslims to perform the Eid prayer.
This day is dedicated to thanking Almighty Allah for whatever we have. Muslims believe that Allah has ordered them to fast till the last day of Ramadan. According to the holy book of Islam, before offering Eid prayer, believers are obliged to pay Zakat al-Fitr.
