Efforts are on to airlift 15 DK students from Ukraine: DC | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: Deputy commissioner KV Rajendra said that the ministry of external affairs and the state government are in touch with the Indian Embassy in Ukraine to bring all the 15 students from Dakshina Kannada back home. The DC said he is in touch with the students who are stuck in Ukraine as well as their parents.
“All students from Dakshina Kannada stranded in Ukrain are safe and arrangements are being made to bring them back soon. Embassy officials and the state government’s nodal officer have been sharing information regarding all students stranded in Ukraine. All students are in touch with their parents,” DC said.
Morwin D’Souza, father of Claton Osmond, from Padil in the city, said he has not received any information regarding the evacuation of his son, a first-year MBBS student in Ukraine. “Students are asked to stay in the bunker. It will be definitely difficult for them to face this kind of situation. We appeal to the government to speed up the process of evacuation,” he told TOI
Sandhya M, mother of Anaina Anna, student at Kharkiv National University told TOI that her daughter is safe. “She spoke to me. She is safe. Morning everything was ok but bombing and firing started again in the evening,” Sandhya said.
Seven students from Udupi
Udupi district administration received information about two more students stranded in Ukraine. Nandini Arun, 21, and Ankitha Jagadish Poojary, 22, MBBS students at Odessa National Medical University and Kharkiv National Medical University respectively, are among seven students from Udupi stranded in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Congress Legislative Party leader Siddaramaiaha criticized the government for failing to act swiftly. “The union government was aware of the tension between Russia and Ukraine about 15 days ago, and should have taken action to airlift the Indians.”
