Sisodia was arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise case
Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Friday accused the Enforcement Directorate of “lying” before the court and claimed that former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia did not destroy any mobile phone.
In March, the ED claimed before a Delhi court that Sisodia was involved in “destroying digital evidence on a large scale to obstruct the investigation” in the Delhi Excise Policy case and that he had replaced and destroyed 14 phones .
Sisodia was arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise case.
“The Enforcement Directorate is lying before the court during this period. They said that 14 mobile phones were destroyed by Sisodia, but the fact is that no mobile phone was destroyed by the former deputy chief minister,” Singh claimed. “Actually, out of those 14, five phones are in the custody of the ED and the CBI,” the senior AAP leader said.
However, ED sources said the chargesheet in the case is based on “reliable evidence” and the court “has taken cognizance of them”. The AAP Rajya Sabha member claimed, “As per an ED report, all the phones are working and out of 14, five phones have already been seized by the ED and the CBI.”
Lashing out at the probe agency, Singh alleged that the phone numbers listed by the ED include those of Sisodia’s house help, driver and other employees.
Singh said, “They have made a mockery of the investigation. BJP leaders who are alleging that Manish Sisodia destroyed 14 mobile phones and ED officials defamed Delhi’s best education minister should publicly apologise.” “
The senior AAP leader also allegedly read the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers of the mobile phones listed by the ED.
