Murtaza, accused of Gorakhnath temple attack, was produced by ATS in Gorakhpur court on Monday. Murtaza’s production lasted for about 22 minutes in the court. At 11.15 am on Monday, Murtaza was produced in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division Prabhat Tripathi in the civil court. The ATS requested the court to extend the remand, citing the evidence related to this case and its terrorist connections. While hearing the application of ATS, the court asked Murtaza that you have something to say in your explanation? Murtaza bowed his head and said – no. Now the court has given the date of April 16 for hearing. On April 16, the hearing will be held in Gorakhpur court itself.

Case may be transferred to ATS Court Lucknow
During the hearing, Mortaza stood silently in the courtroom. Apart from the security personnel in the court, Public Prosecutor (APO) of this case SK Pathak was also present. ATS told the court that the case in this case has been transferred from Gorakhpur Police to ATS. In such a situation, ATS has also demanded transfer of Murtaza case to ATS court.
At present, the ATS is interrogating him by keeping him at the ATS office located at Police Lines. After receiving the remand order by evening, ATS will take it back to Lucknow.

- On March 31, intelligence agencies released a list of 16 suspects, including Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi of Gorakhpur, and instructions were issued to keep an eye on him.

- At 7.24 pm on April 3, Murtaza reached Gorakhpur via Bansi Nepal and attacked the policemen guarding the Gorakhnath temple here with a sharp weapon.
- After Mortaza was caught, the police registered two cases against him and presented him in the court on April 4 and took him on custody remand.
Has Murtaza confessed any crime till now?
- Police have recovered religious books, sharp-edged weapons, jihadi videos found from his laptop etc. from Murtaza’s possession.
- Murtaza has confessed to the ATS that he was angry about the ongoing hijab case, CAA, NRC etc. in the country. He felt that wrong was happening with the Muslims. To take revenge, he attacked.
