Earthquake in Delhi: Metro services disrupted, passengers stranded after mild tremors in Delhi Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: After mild tremors hit the national capital around 6.42 am, Metro services were halted at several stations and commuters were left stranded on Monday.
Disruption in Metro services led to long queues at various metro stations in Delhi on Monday.
This comes on a day when Delhi Metro has allowed Metro trains to operate at full capacity from today.
“Today (today) at around 6.42 am, a mild tremor was confirmed. As a standard procedure, trains were run at a cautionary pace and deployed to the next platform. Services are now running normally,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Commuters were seen in several queues outside the Badarpur Border Metro station.
“We have been in a queue for over an hour. It is being told that the trains are running late due to some technical snag,” said a passenger.

People were seen waiting as the gates of Anand Vihar Metro station remained closed.
A passenger said, “I have been waiting here for over an hour. When I inquired, a guard told me that there was some technical fault in the metro line.”
A huge crowd of passengers was also seen at Delhi’s Nirman Vihar metro station.
This comes a day after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) allowed the Delhi Metro to run at 100 per cent capacity, with sixteen additional entry gates of Metro stations becoming operational from Monday.
According to a statement, Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) is already facilitating the entry of passengers through 260 gates at all its stations.
The stations which will have an additional operational gate are Uttam Nagar East, Janakpuri West, Dwarka Mor, Karol Bagh, Vaishali, Noida Sector 18, Noida City Centre, Azadpur, GTB Nagar, Govind Puri, Green Park and MG Road.
Additional gates at Model Town, Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat stations will remain open for entry only.
These 16 are in addition to these gates already operational.
Amid the decline in Covid-19 cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in its guidelines, allowed the Delhi Metro to operate at 100 per cent capacity. Even city plying buses, including DTC and cluster buses, have been allowed to run at full capacity.
However, in an official statement, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that standing travel is still prohibited inside the metro as per the revised guidelines. Earlier metros and buses were running at 50 per cent capacity.
