Udupi: The district administration plans to set up a virtual 3D venue to offer major destinations to tourists without traveling.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner M.Kurma Rao The officials of the tourism department have been asked to set up virtual 3D rooms at major tourist places in the district. “Most of the tourists visit only one or two tourist places in the district. If a virtual 3D site is set up, they will get an opportunity to see all the tourist places in the district without traveling. He said that there are many tourist places which are yet to be developed and directed the officials of the tourism department to invite expression of interest from the organizations for preparing the detailed project report.
Three acres of port department’s land near Kaup Lighthouse can be developed as a tourist destination. An aquarium and other tourist activities can also be planned there.
The department should submit a proposal to acquire the land from the port department. Identify all the major tourist places in the five assembly constituencies of the district so that they can be developed. The DC said that trained tourist guides should also be deputed.
In order to promote kayaking, the department should identify suitable institutions and clubs that have the expertise to handle the sport. “For the facility of house boat, sand blocks posing danger will be cleared through dredging. The tourism department should take permission from the environment department if the area is under coastal regulation zone (CRZ),” she added.
The DC also directed the officials to complete all the development works at the earliest. District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Y Naveen Bhati, Additional Deputy Commissioner J Sadashiv Prabhu and Assistant Director of Tourism Department Clifford Lobo was present.
