Dwayne Johnson reacts to Henry Cavill’s exit from the Superman franchise following the recent appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the new DCU co-heads.

Ever since James Gunn released a statement regarding Henry Cavill’s exit as Superman, DCU fans have been in awe. The big revelation comes after controversial changes to the DC universe, with the appointment of new co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, also put a possible Black Adam sequel on hold. Recently, during the Oscars red carpet, Dwayne Johnson aka Black Adam reflected on the overhaul of the DC Universe that played a key role in his plans for a Black Adam-Superman crossover film.

Henry Cavill made an appearance as Superman in DC’s latest release, the Dwayne Johnson-starrer Black Adam. He was featured in the film’s post-credits scene, leaving fans excited for more Superman appearances in the future. And unfortunately, DC also canceled the third installment of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot.

Last December, Dwayne posted a statement on his Twitter that DC and his production company, Seven Bucks, said, “James Gunn and I are engaged, and Black Adam will not be in his first chapter of storytelling.” However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways to use Black Adam in future DC Multiverse chapters.

Now, according to a new report in Variety, the Jumanji star talks about Black Adam’s future, saying, “All that I could do, and all that we could do when we were making Black Adam , had to do my best.” And surround ourselves with the best people and deliver the best movie that we could. Our audience scores were in the 90s. Critics took a few shots at it, but that’s just the business of it. It’s almost like when you have a pro football team and your quarterback wins the championship and your head coach wins the championship and then a new owner comes in and says, ‘Not my coach, not my quarterback. I’m going out with someone new.'”

The new Superman movie is set to release in 2025. It will be written by James Gunn and will focus on a much younger version of Superman titled Superman: Legacy. DCU fanatics have high hopes for the film, especially after Henry Cavill’s exit from the Superman universe as Superman.
