In a letter to the Colleges and Heads of Departments of Delhi University, DUTA urged them to ensure that all ad-hoc teachers are re-inducted.

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association on Wednesday called upon the colleges and departments of the university to renew the appointment of ad-hoc teachers for the academic session 2022-2023. This comes after several teachers raised concerns over the new curriculum, the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework-2022, which said it would lead to large-scale displacement of teachers, especially those employed on an ad-hoc basis.

In a letter to Delhi University colleges and heads of departments, DUTA urged them to ensure re-engagement of all ad-hoc teachers teaching by the last day of the 2021-2022 academic session. “DUTA appeals to you to ensure to re-engage all ad-hoc teachers teaching in your college/department by the last day of academic session 2021-2022. You are requested to ensure that they are paid summer salary/ (ex-gratia payment to us per Ordinance XI) at the earliest,” the letter read.

The DUTA also called for implementation of a resolution passed by the academic council and executive council of the university in March, stating that any fluctuation in workload will not displace existing temporary teachers until permanent appointments are made. Last month, some members of Delhi University’s executive council and finance committee wrote to Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, demanding that the salaries of ad-hoc teachers be deposited “without any further delay”.
