Dulquer Salmaan says he was ‘terrified, insecure’ when he started acting

This year, it will be a decade since actor Dulquer Salmaan made his acting debut. She started her career in 2012 with the Malayalam film Second Show. Since then, he has made a mark not only in the Malayalam industry but also in many other film industries across the country. Now, in a recent interview, Dulquer has revealed that he was initially ‘fearful, insecure and completely unsure’ about his future.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Dulquer said, “I came into the industry really scared, insecure and completely unsure about my future. I used to wonder if people would be willing to watch me onscreen for two hours. I had a lot of doubts in my head. I literally took one movie at a time, and I stuck to my guns about what kinds of things I wanted to do. I didn’t want to do remakes and sequels. I didn’t even want to do bilinguals at that time because they weren’t working properly. If you had told me ten years ago that I would work in four languages and be recognized and accepted, I would not have believed you. ,

The actor is all set to feature in two projects – R Balki’s next film and the web-series Guns & Gulab. Talking about his sporadic appearances, Dulquer says, “I am humbled that the audience misses out on seeing me on screen. I’d like them to remember me like, ‘Oh no! not him again! We only saw him last month. He has already had four releases this year. How many more films will we see him in?’ I think being a little exclusive works in my favor.”

Dulquer Salmaan was last seen in Salute. The actor had to face problems after he was directly opted for an OTT release. In fact, theater owners in Kerala even threatened to never release his films in theatres.
