Delhi LG VK Saxena has approved the recruitment and placement of teachers and non-teaching staff in government-aided schools through the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), officials of Raj Niwas said on Monday.

Delhi LG VK Saxena has approved the recruitment and placement of teachers and non-teaching staff in government-aided schools through the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), officials of Raj Niwas said on Monday.

He said that the Board would appoint a three-member panel for each post to be filled in the selection committees of government-aided schools.

“This would require amendment in the Delhi School Education Rules (DSER), 1973 and the Delhi School Education Act (DSEA), 1973 which governs such provisions,” said a statement from the LG’s office.

The LG has directed the Delhi Government (Education Department) to follow the laid down procedure in this regard. He said that there are about 8,300 sanctioned posts in 207 government-aided schools, for which recruitment is being done from time to time.

“While the DSER, 1973 provides for a selection committee with the nominee of the Director of Education for such recruitments, the rules are silent regarding the procedure to be followed by these committees for teachers and clerical staff,” the statement said.

It said, “This often leads to non-transparency, corruption and nepotism by the government’s nominee in the selection of candidates.” He said that the above provision would be optional for government aided minority schools.
