Drunk Student Urinates On Co-passenger On New York-Delhi American Airlines Flight

An American Airlines passenger allegedly in an inebriated condition urinated on another male passenger on an American Airlines flight between New York and New Delhi. According to reports, the incident took place on flight AA292, which left New York at 9:16 pm on Friday and reached the city’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport at 10:12 pm on Saturday.

An airport source said, “The accused is a student of an American university.

He added that after the student apologized, the male victim was not keen on reporting the matter to the police, which could jeopardize his career. However, the airline took it seriously and informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at IGI Airport.

After the crew came to know about the incident on board, they informed the pilot, who in turn reported the matter to ATC, who in turn alerted CISF personnel, who handed over the accused passenger to Delhi Police.

Another source at the airport said, “After the incident came to light, the airline’s own security team along with CISF swung into action. The accused was immediately taken into custody as soon as the flight landed. Police is recording the statements of the concerned persons.” ” informed PTI.

As per civil aviation rules, if a passenger is found guilty of unruly behaviour, prosecuted under criminal law, he/she will be banned from flying for a specific time period depending on the level of the offence. This is the second such incident in the last few months when an inebriated passenger slapped his co-traveller.

An almost similar incident took place on November 26 in a New York-Delhi Air India flight, in which a man named Shankar Mishra allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in an inebriated condition.

The incident came to light through a media report about a month later, following which an FIR was lodged and Mishra was arrested. He was released on bail after spending about a month in jail.

The DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India for not reporting the matter within 12 hours of the incident, as per rules. The DL probing the matter has banned Mishra from flying for four months.
