A man hit a woman and on-duty policeman with his speeding SUV on a busy road in Mumbai’s Khar, while driving in a drunken state, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Hiten Desai, was arrested in connection with the accident that took place around 7:45 pm on Sunday.
Desai was driving from Linking Road in Bandra in an inebriated state, an officer noted.

Desai continued to drive before locals managed to intercept him and handed him over to the traffic police.
The accused has been arrested under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (endangering life), 353 (assault on public servant), 308 (culpable homicide) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.

The accused teen, the son of a builder, is currently in observation home, whereas his parents were arrested for their suspected role in swapping blood samples of the juvenile in the high-profile case.
According to the police, the minor accused had thrown a party for 12 of his friends to celebrate his Class 12 results. They had gone to Cosie in upscale Mundhwa and Blak Club at Marriott Suites at Koregaon Park annexe, where they consumed alcohol.
