CHENNAI: Chennai Air Customs has seized six postal parcels containing 7,990 pills containing psychotropic substances and two parcels containing 1,225 grams of ganja at a foreign post office.
4,790 Tramadol Hydrochloride Tablets (100mg) were found in four registered parcels booked by a Delhi-based person from Chennai to the US that were declared documents. Two other parcels booked by a Delhi-based person from Chennai to the US contained 3,200 tablets of Tramadol (100 mg).
Tramadol hydrochloride tablet falls under the category of psychotropic substances as mentioned in the schedule Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, the export of which is prohibited without any export authorization issued by a competent authority.
In another case, 1,225 grams of ganja has been confiscated. customs act, 1962 from two postal parcels booked from US and Canada. The hemp was hidden inside yoga massage balls and a vegetable salad mixer.
