Drought affected farmers in Chhattisgarh will get Rs 9,000 per acre assistance: Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said financial assistance of Rs 9,000 per acre would be given to him if the crop sown by farmers in the state during the current kharif season is destroyed due to drought-like situation. “Lack of rain has led to drought-like situation in many areas (Chhattisgarh). The state government stands with the farmers in this time of crisis,” an official statement quoted the chief minister as saying.

Farmers who have sown paddy, kodo-kutki (millet), tur dal in the current kharif season and their crop is destroyed due to lack of rain, will be given an assistance of Rs 9,000 per acre on the basis of the survey. For assessment of damages under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana (RGKNY) he said. Under RGKNY, the state government provides input support to farmers for crop production.

The Chief Minister said that biographies of folk artists Late Punaram Nishad and Late Madan Kumar Nishad would be published and directed the Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Text Book Corporation to take necessary steps in this regard.
