In an unprecedented incident, a drone was spotted in a residential area of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
The Indian government has raised security concerns with Islamabad regarding the event. According to reports, this is the first time such an incident of drone sighting has happened inside an Indian commission in Pakistan.
Sources told CNN-News18 that the drone was spotted inside the mission when a Bollywood night event was going on.
In a separate incident, Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers fired on a small hexacopter belonging to Pakistan at around 0425 am on Friday when it was trying to cross the international border in Arnia sector. Due to this firing, he immediately returned. According to an official BSF statement, this was for surveillance of the area.
This comes days after a low-flying drone detonated double at the Jammu airport.
To assess the situation, the Minister of State for Home will meet IG BSF in Jammu where Reddy will be apprised of the current situation.
Meanwhile, drones have once again come to the fore with the reprehensible attack on the Indian Air Force base in Jammu. This is not a topic that is new by any means. In fact, the government has been actively working on India’s commercial drone policy for some time now. The Drone Ecosystem Policy Roadmap was released in 2019 and was put up for comments in 2020. This policy came into force in 2021 after it was published in the Official Gazette. The policy is challenging because it involves regulation for the rapidly evolving drone landscape. and tries to address the potential issues that may come up.
