It was not just another for a Zomato delivery agent who was seen trying to locate his rightful customer amid heavy traffic in Delhi streets. Drenched in rain with his helmet on, phone in one hand and food parcel in another, the delivery person caught the Internet’s attention.

While the phenomenon of ordering food from our favourite eateries while being at home or office is nothing new, the man in this particular case ordered the food while being stuck in traffic at Mehrauli-Gurugram Road. Captured by an individual seemingly seated inside his car, the clip was posted on an Instagram page with the name Delhi Visit. A text overlay the video reads, “Somebody ordered food in the traffic jam.” In the video, it is clear that the delivery agent is struggling as he braves the rain to spot the rightful owner of the food he is carrying in his hand.

With more than 2.5 lakh views, the video immediately grabbed attention as netizens started highlighting the inhuman behaviour of the customer. “This is so inhuman. Respect everyone. It’s raining,” wrote one user. Visible fuming, another user commented, “Not cool. Ik he’s earning but is it worth the amount? Human life is a joke in this country.” One of the individuals added, “Respect to such hardworking people who, despite the bad weather, delivered you your stuff.” A user also highlighted the delivery boy’s loyalty towards his job as he added, “Give this man a raise. Such loyalty towards his job is outstanding. Kudos to them. Guy. Respect.”

The recent incident comes on the heels of a similar event that took place a few days back. A delivery agent was seen navigating through waist-deep water while trying to complete a delivery. While Zomato’s agent was praised for his “dedication” and “hard work”, people raised concerns about the pressures faced by them during a complex situation.

As the debate grew, many also called out the food-delivery platform, asking them to reconsider their policies and prioritise the safety of their workers first by completely dismissing delivery services in such situations.
