Dragon Ball Super went on an indefinite hiatus following the demise of manga creator Akira Toriyama in March this year.

It has been a long time since Dragon Ball Super went on a hiatus, leaving manga fans wondering about the future of the series. The late Akira Toriyama, along with Toei Animation, first brought Dragon Ball Super to fans in 2015, keeping them hooked across a glorious three-year journey. The show has been on an indefinite halt since Chapter 103, which came out in March 2024. The demise of Toriyama flipped the franchise on its head, with all eyes on the question: Will the manga return? Well, fans can finally put their doubts to rest, as there seems to be a confirmation from the makers’ end.

Artist Toyotarou, who has been famously illustrating the manga since its debut in 2015, has teased about some exciting battles as he confirmed the series return. In a special video shared by Dragon Ball’s official channel, Toyotarou sat down for a conversation with Weekly Dragon Ball News anchor Victory Uchida to reveal the result of the “Goku’s Best Bout” poll.

Toyotarou, who was the mastermind behind the iconic Goku vs Moro battle, thanked everyone for the poll results, further hinting, “Thank you. With the Moro fight included and all, I was delighted to see the poll results. But I won’t stop there! I plan to keep on coming up with lots of exciting battles for fans to enjoy, so I hope you all will continue following my work! Thank you!”

In this context, it is almost clear that he is not yet done with Dragon Ball. While details about the next chapter are yet to be announced, elated fans have taken to social media platforms to express their happiness and excitement.

Dragon Ball Super On A Hiatus

Earlier this year, Dragon Ball Super went on a hiatus with Chapter 103, posted not long after the news of Toriyama’s death. To this date, no return date has been announced, while fans are hoping the makers will resume work on the series.

So far, fans have seen Goku and Gohan in the middle of a rigorous sparring season. While Gohan was able to retain his best form and increase his powers, the sudden surge only led him to lose control. On the other hand, Broly joins the fight, only to add fire to the chaos.
