Dr. Baljit Kaur is the daughter of Sadhu Singh, former MP of Faridkot. He is an ophthalmologist. Baljit Kaur of AAP defeated Harpreet Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal by a margin of 40261 votes from Malout assembly seat. Harpreet Singh has been a two-time MLA from Kotabai Malout.
