Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SE Gangadharaswamy said a special drive was launched and after the police commissioner ordered a ban, the police seized sound producing material from vendors and youth.
“Hurting public or road users is punishable. Even using a sharpened horn or a replaced bike silencer takes action. Any vehicle user found violating the norms will be booked,” he said.
A traffic inspector told TOI that wrongdoers are being punished for violating the rules. However, the official admitted that due to shortage of staff, special drives to prevent violations including negligence and negligence are not being conducted regularly.
