Producer Ritesh Sidhwani says the third installment of the Farhan Akhtar-directed action thriller Don starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan is still in the scripting stage.
Sidhwani, actor-filmmaker Akhtar’s partner in the production banner Excel Entertainment, said that he is not yet aware of the plot of the much-anticipated film. “We will not do anything until my partner (Farhan Akhtar) finishes writing it. Akhtar and Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment bought the rights of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 1978 film of the same name and remade it with Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The first “Don” released in 2006 and the second installment followed in 2011 with Shah Rukh and Priyanka reprising their roles. Both films were directed by Akhtar.
Known for producing films like “Dil Chahta Hai”, “Rock On!!”, “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” and “Raees”, Sidhwani is currently producing the web series “Dahad” for the banner directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi. are promoting. In February this year, the eight-part Prime Video crime-drama had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival as part of the Berlinale Series programme.
