Dogecoin: Twitter has replaced its iconic bird logo on its website with the Dogecoin symbol, Shibu, which has generated buzz and excitement among Dogecoin fans. Dogecoin (DOGE) surged over 35% after the website changes were made.
Prior to the logo update, DOGE was trading at around $0.077 and peaked at $0.1046 with the logo creating a frenzy among coin holders. At the time of writing this news, the dog symbol is still visible on Twitter.
Twitter sent a poop emoticon in response to a reporter’s question about its decision to include the Shibu icon. It appeared Kasturi was aware of the furore over the modification when he posted a picture that shows Shibu sitting in a car and giving a license with a Twitter blue bird, calling it an ‘old picture’.
Many users have applauded Musk’s move to strengthen the cryptocurrency. While some users have pointed out that this move is to illegally inflate the price of Dogecoin so that Musk can sell the coins he has at a higher price.
There is speculation that Musk may incorporate Dogecoin into the social media platform as a means of payment in a bid to grow Twitter’s business. It was revealed in January that the business was developing a payment product in a way that supported bitcoin payments.
The cryptocurrency has previously been used by Musk’s businesses as a means of payment. Tesla and SpaceX began accepting Dogecoin in May 2017 to pay for goods.
Most recently, Musk sought to dismiss a $258 billion lawsuit in which the plaintiffs called Dogecoin a pyramid scheme and Elon Musk organized fraud.
