National Board of Examination has released the date for NEET- PG exam. As per the schedule, the exam will be conducted on March 5, 2023 and the result will be declared on March 31, 2023. However, the doctors have opposed the March 31 cut-off date for completing the internship. They believe that such a move would disqualify more than half the students of the current batch.

Taking cognizance of the decision, The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) tweeted, “More than 50% interns are ineligible, their career is at stake. (Many) states are not fully eligible. This will lead to demands for postponement and last-minute chaos. Immediate resolution is needed. The association has tagged the Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services on its tweet.

Some states continued to delay the release of MBBS final exam results, preventing students from starting and finishing their required internships on time. But in the past two years, academic delays have increased as a result of the pandemic.

According to them, the current deadline will prevent most of the 2017 batch from appearing for the PG exams this year. He recommended extending the deadline till May. On the orders of the Supreme Court, the deadline for MBBS students to complete the mandatory one-year internship before taking the PG entrance exam was extended till July 31 last year. The internships of some students were also postponed last year due to COVID-19 duty during the second wave.

The last two years have seen significant disruption in the NEET PG programme, resulting in a shortage of PG students working as junior resident doctors in medical college hospitals as part of their training. In December 2021, resident doctors from FORDA and FAIMA protested on the streets to urge the government to expedite counseling, which has been stalled for several months as a result of several court cases related to the new quota for the economically disadvantaged Was. parts.
