Doctor couple commits suicide in Pune: Angry wife hangs from fan after husband’s phone disconnected during conversation, husband also commits suicide after seeing dead body

A Pune doctor couple committed suicide by hanging themselves on Thursday. The bodies of Dr Nikhil and Dr Ankita Shendkar were recovered from their house on Thursday morning. They got married only a few months back. In the initial investigation, the police is treating it as a suicide after a domestic dispute. However, other angles are also being investigated.

Police said that Ankita was a BHMS doctor and Nikhil was a BAMS doctor. Both lived in a bungalow in Azad Nagar of Wanwadi area. Police informed his family members and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in this case. The real cause of death will be revealed after the report comes.

Late night there was a fight between the two
According to the information received from the Wanwadi police station, based on the examination of the call records of both, it is being speculated that there was a fight between the doctor couple over some issue. While talking, Dr. Nikhil disconnected Ankita’s phone. After this Ankita hanged herself in her room. When Dr. Nikhil returned home late in the evening, Ankita’s body was hanging from the fan. Upset over the incident, Nikhil also committed suicide by going to another room.

When the maid came in the morning, the death was found
According to the Wanwadi police station, when the maid working at the house arrived for work on Thursday morning, her door did not open for a long time. After this, he informed about this to some people living in the neighborhood. Some of them called and told the police station that the door was closed and after about half an hour, when the police reached the spot, broke the door, the bodies of both were found hanging from the fan.
