DNA Exclusive: Analysis of Bihar Education Minister’s remark on Ramcharitmanas

New DelhiControversy has arisen over the remarks of Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar Yadav on Ramcharitmanas. Chandrasekhar today refused to withdraw his controversial statement on Ramcharitmanas. He said that five-six verses of Sundar Kand and Uttar Kand of Ramcharitmanas are objectionable. And spreads hatred in the society. The minister said he stood by his statement and would not back down at any cost. He said, “Ramcharitmanas spreads hatred in the society. It prevents Dalits, backward class people and women from education. It prevents equality for them in the society.”

Addressing the students at the 15th convocation of Nalanda Open University on Wednesday, he claimed that ‘Ramcharitmanas’ and ‘Manusmriti’ divide the society. In today’s DNA, Zee News’ Rohit Ranjan analyzes Bihar Education Minister’s comment on Ramcharitmanas and how he has twisted the context of the scripture.

DNA analysis found that Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar picked up lines in between and twisted the entire context of the story of Shri Ramcharitmanas in such a way that it spreads caste hatred. It seems that the education minister has misinterpreted the four verses of Ramcharitmanas according to his wisdom. He did not tell about the contexts associated with these quadrupeds. He did not even tell that these chaupaiyas were part of a conversation between two people.

According to Dr. Om Upadhyay, director of the Indian Council for Historical Research, it is very easy to oppose any religion or scripture. All you have to do is pick a scripture, take a line from it, and interpret it in your own way.
