Hyderabad: The new frontier of war is about destroying civil society and IPS The authorities have to be at the forefront of this battle to keep the nation intact, National Security Advisor (NSA, Ajit Doval Said in his address to the IPS trainees SVP National Police Academy in Hyderabad on Friday.
“Wars ceased to be effective means to achieve political and military objectives. They are too costly, unaffordable and there is uncertainty about the outcome. It is civil society which has to be distorted, to hurt the interest of the nation. Can be divided and manipulated. You are there to see that this land is completely safe,” Doval said.
Doval, an alumnus of the academy, was the chief guest on Friday at the ‘Convocation Parade’ of the 2020 batch, which was attended by 132 IPS trainees and 17 foreign officer trainees.
“People are most important. The new frontier of war, called the fourth generation of war, is civil society,” he said.
He also emphasized on greater role of police in border management of over 15,000 kms covering Pakistan, China, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
He said that the responsibility of managing 32 lakh square kilometers of India lies with the police forces. “But it will extend. You will be responsible for the border management of this country. Most of the 15,000-km border has its own peculiar problems,” he said.
Doval said there are different types of security issues at each border. “Pakistan has a border with China or Myanmar or Bangladesh. We have different types of security related issues which are handled by police and central police organisations,” he said.
Doval’s remarks on over-policing come a day after Punjab Assembly adopted a resolution expanding the jurisdiction of the Center B S fWhich was called an insult by the Punjab Assembly.
