Displeasure of rejecting marriage proposal: Woman who became friend on Facebook threw acid on 28-year-old youth, mother of two children is accused

A 35-year-old woman threw acid on a 28-year-old man in Idukki, Kerala. The two met through Facebook. The woman was reportedly upset over the youth’s refusal to marry her. According to the police, the accused woman has been arrested in this incident of November 16. The arrested woman is already a mother of two children, but still she wanted to marry the young man.

Injured youth is admitted in the hospital, there is a danger of losing his eye
According to the police, the victim youth Arun Kumar is a resident of Thiruvananthapuram. The accused woman Shiba had thrown acid on his face on November 16, injuring him badly. He has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Doctors say that the young man’s eyesight is at risk of loss due to acid fall.

Friendship on Facebook, information of two children found later
Police told PTI that Arun and Sheeba became friends after meeting on Facebook. Later, Arun wanted to end the relationship after learning of Sheeba being married and mother of two children, but Sheeba was blackmailing him and demanding money.

To get the money, Sheeba had called Arun to a church near Adimali on 16 November, where Arun had also taken his brother-in-law and friend with him.

The incident was revealed from the CCTV footage
On Saturday, footage of CCTV cameras installed in the church campus surfaced. It was seen in the footage that Sheeba standing behind Kumar suddenly came forward and threw acid on his face. Sheeba herself also got minor injuries in the affair of throwing acid. First, Arun himself got admitted in a private hospital in Adimali. He was later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. According to the police, an FIR was registered in this case on Friday. Sheeba was arrested on Saturday.
