Custody will hit the theaters on May 12.
Director Venkat Prabhu said that he wrote the script for Custody after watching the Malayalam film Nayattu.
Director Venkat Prabhu’s Custody is all set to release in cinema halls on 12th May. Starring Naga Chaitanya, Custody has been one of the most talked about films in recent times. At a press release event held in Chennai, the director said that he wrote the script of the film after watching the Malayalam film Nayattu. The director said that fans will have a different experience after watching Custody.
Nayattu narrates the story of three police officers KP Manian (Joju George), Sunita Krishna (Nimisha Sajayan) and Praveen Michael (Kunchacko Boban). They are on the run to escape the false case framed against them. Directed by Martin Prakat, Nayattu was a box office hit.
Back in custody, Prabhu said he was confident of the film’s success. According to him, Custody is an action thriller and the audience will definitely appreciate it. The filmmaker added that the film will also focus on some real scenarios which will make it worth watching. Naga Chaitanya also expressed his opinion in the meeting and said that he and his brother Akhil Akkineni have not got much success in the past. But, the actor commented that he is confident of breaking the flop spree with Custody.
Custody tells the story of an honest constable A Shiva, played by Chaitanya. He is assigned the task of saving a criminal from his rivals. Also in custody are Priyamani, Sampath Raj, Premgi, Vennela Kishore and Premi Vishwanath. Its trailer was unveiled on 5 May and received an overwhelming response from social media users. The Telugu trailer has so far garnered over 14 million views and the Tamil trailer has garnered over 5.3 million views. According to fans, the highlight of the trailer was Chaitanya playing the role of a police officer. Other fans have praised the background music rendered by Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. One of the fans also wrote that Custody is going to be an edge-of-the-seat action drama.
