Director Sudipto Sen Opens Up on ‘The Kerala Story’ Row, Says ‘Only Those Are Protesting Who Have Not Seen It’

New Delhi: ‘The Kerala Story’ has been facing protests across the country for some time now due to its storyline.

During a media interaction on Monday, filmmaker Sudipto Sen opened up on the ongoing controversy surrounding his latest release ‘The Kerala Story’. Sudipto shared the response he and his team got after the teaser release, “We have two proofs, you will laugh if you see them. Once our teaser was released, a boy has been visiting us continuously for the past two months. Was abusing the co-producer. After watching our film yesterday, the boy messaged, ‘I apologize to you publicly, I have no further objection.’ And I have also received abusive messages. So if you guys feel that the story has not been justified after watching the film, then you guys can take those two testimonials from us and you will come to know.’

He further added, “The days they were protesting and today after watching our film, they have stopped opposing us. As of today, only those people who have not seen the film are protesting.”

The film has received an overwhelming response from the audience and has earned Rs 35.25 crore in its opening weekend.

‘The Kerala Story’ stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in lead roles. The film sparked controversy when its trailer claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala had gone missing and joined the terrorist group ISIS. The statement sparked a heated political debate and several politicians questioned the veracity of the claim.
