Mamta said that Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka are being given more vaccines than Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday questioned the central government’s vaccine policy for the second time. Targeting the Center, Didi said that less vaccine is being supplied to Bengal than other states.

Mamta said that Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka are being given more vaccines than Bengal. I don’t discriminate between people, but Bengal has got less vaccine according to population. I cannot silently watch the discrimination being done against Bengal. I appeal to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to discriminate on the basis of states.

wrote a letter to the Prime Minister
Earlier, Bengal CM wrote a letter to PM Modi on the issue of vaccination. Expressing concern over the situation in Bengal in the letter, Mamta said that if the central government does not increase the vaccine supply in Bengal soon, then the situation can become serious. 14 crore doses are needed to vaccinate all the citizens of Bengal.

What else did Mamta write in the letter?
Mamta said that we have the capacity to administer 11 lakh vaccination doses daily in the state, but we are able to vaccinate only 4 lakh doses daily. This is because of the short supply of vaccines. She said that she has already written a letter to the Prime Minister on this issue, but the central government did not pay heed to it. The Center is giving more vaccines to other states. We have no problem with this.

Mamta claimed in the letter that the rate of corona infection in Bengal has come down to below 1.57%. This is the result of the efforts of the state government. Therefore, the central government is requested to supply the vaccine dose to us as per the requirement. According to the Health Department of Bengal, till Wednesday, more than 3.09 crore people have been vaccinated in the state.

Bengal BJP’s opinion on this issue
Bengal BJP leaders have dismissed allegations of discrimination in the supply of vaccine. He said that the Bengal government is not able to get the vaccination done properly in the state. He said on August 3 that there is a stock of 30 lakh vaccines in the state, but the government is not able to make them available to the common people.

A team of BJP MPs from the state along with Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh had met Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on this issue. After this, the team also spoke to the Union Human Resource Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. BJP MPs alleged that TMC workers are being given preference during vaccination in the state.

When was the last time the issue of vaccine was raised?
Mamta Banerjee had reached Delhi on July 27. He had met many opposition leaders including Rahul, Sonia, Kejriwal. During this, she had also reached to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the meeting, Mamta had raised the issue of discrimination in vaccine supply even at that time. He had demanded from the Prime Minister to increase the number of doses given to Bengal. Mamta had said that Bengal should get the vaccine according to the population.
