Dia Mirza celebrates the anniversary of Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein: ’20 Years of Pure Love’

Cult classic Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein completed 20 years of release on 19 October. The romantic drama starring R Madhavan, Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan was released on 19 October 2001. Directed by Gautham Menon, the film was a remake of a Tamil film. Minnale which was also helmed by Menon and starred Madhavan. Despite being an average grosser at the box office, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein gained a huge fan following after it aired on TV and other platforms. The film’s soundtrack composed by Harris Jayaraj with lyrics by Sameer also fueled the film’s late success. Zara Zara, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein and Sach Keh Raha Hai are still found in the playlists of youth.

Madhavan also shared his thoughts on the 20th anniversary of the film. talking to first positionThe 51-year-old said the film became a cult classic because of its story, relativity and realism. Talking about his character, Madhavan said that he and the director (Menon) deliberately decided not to make Madhav Shastri a larger-than-life hero, and hence his character never has perfect hair in the film. “Madhav Shastri is a church mouse. He’s an all-rounder, wild guy who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about his looks,” he told the media outlet.

Madhavan also said that he is ready for an age-appropriate sequel to Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, adding that he would love to work with the original team again.
