Exactly a month back, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming had revealed that skipper MS Dhoni is suffering from a knee injury which is ‘hampering his movement’. The statement came after the team lost to Rajasthan Royals by 3 runs in Chepauk. Since then, CSK has played 9 matches in IPL 2023 and the skipper has not missed a single one of them. Despite a knee problem, Dhoni has kept wicket in all the games and has also run between the wickets with great intensity while batting.
On Sunday night, Chennai Super Kings won IPL 2023 match no. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) 61 by 6 wickets. After the conclusion of the game, Dhoni and Co. took a victory lap at Chepauk to thank the local fans who turned up in large numbers to watch CSK’s last home game this season.

Meanwhile, netizens got emotional as they saw an icepack tied to Dhoni’s left knee. The skipper has been seen limping on several occasions. However, despite being in pain, the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman decided to take a walk and acknowledge the fans at the stadium.

Last month, CSK coach Fleming had confirmed that Dhoni is suffering from a knee injury which has bothered him a lot.

“He is recovering from a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movement, which is hampering him somewhat but still what you saw today he is a great player for us. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the tournament starts, so he doesn’t get a chance to do much.
CSK’s chances of finishing in the top-two have taken a big hit after the loss to KKR. However, the playoff spots are on course for a berth with still one more match to play. Dhoni and Co. will face Delhi Capitals in their final league game and will be aiming to reach 17 points to secure passage to the playoffs.
