Mysore: District authorities intensify vaccination drive as majority of those who died covid Vaccination was not done. till now, MysoreThe city with a population of 3.5 million has vaccinated 28% of the population from the first dose.
In order to contain the spread of COVID, the authorities have started vaccination drive in each ward to ensure the residents above the age of 45 years. Till now 6.7 lakhs have got their first jab.

An official said the only and immediate protection against the virus is early vaccination. According to a death report released on June 23, out of the total 18 deaths, around 10 were patients who were not vaccinated. Of these, eight were senior citizens and two were aged 49 and 58. Seven out of 10 were women.

District Surveillance Officer, Dr Shivprasad told TOI that the only protection we have from the virus is to be immunized at the earliest. “Our observations have shown that about 80% of vaccinated persons are protected from COVID and recover quickly after contracting the virus. He has not developed any serious complications,” he said.
Vaccination details of covid patients who were registered under Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust The scheme, and treated in private hospitals, was released recently. Now all the hospitals have been instructed to collect the details of vaccination of patients.
