‘Dharam Sansad’ Case: Yati Narsinghanand Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody

Dehradun: A court in Haridwar on Sunday sent religious leader Yeti Narasimhanand, the organizer of the Parliament of Religions, to 14-day judicial custody.

Haridwar police station SHO Rakinder Singh Kathait said that Narsimhanand has been booked under sections 295 (A) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code and has been sent to Roshanabad jail.

Narasimhanand, the head priest of Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, was arrested on Saturday night in the Haridwar hate speech case.

Narasimhanand was picked up from Sarvanand Ghat in the Ganges, where he was conducting a ‘satyagraha’ against the arrest of another accused in the case, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi, formerly known as Wasim Rizvi.

The SHO said that Tyagi is already in jail.

Tyagi was earlier arrested in this case on Thursday.

In the ‘Dharma Sansad’ case, two FIRs are registered in Haridwar against more than ten people including Narsimhanand and Tyagi.

Some speakers are accused of giving hate speech against a particular community at the ‘Dharma Sansad’ held in Haridwar from December 17 to 19 last year.

Special investigation team is investigating the matter.

The ‘Dharma Sansad’ conference, where hate speeches were allegedly made, was organized by Yeti Narasimhanand in Haridwar and ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini’ in Delhi.

The Supreme Court had earlier this week sought response from the central government and others on a plea seeking a direction to ensure investigation and action against those who allegedly made hate speeches during two events held in Haridwar and Delhi. was demanded.
