In India, the ideal period for weddings is during November and December. The auspicious dates for a marriage union fall in these months, while it is also considered an ideal time weather-wise. This year, thousands of weddings are expected to take place on the same day because of the favourable Dev Uthani Ekadashi.
In Hinduism, the day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi is believed to be the best day for a marriage. So, this year the day is falling on November 12, making it the most booked for weddings across the region of Delhi-NCR, state the reports. It states further that around 50,000 marriages are expected to take place in and around the capital city. As per more beliefs, those who did not receive a muhurat for their wedding can conduct their marriage on Dev Uthani Ekadashi, so a lot of unions take place during the day.
Dr Gaurav Kumar Dixit, an astrologer from the pilgrimage city of Soron, detailed more on the significance of the day. According to him, the day is also called Prabodhini Ekadashi, an ideal day for marriage. Any individual can get married at any time of the day and no separate puja is needed.
The day holds another significance, according to which Lord Vishnu is believed to wake up after four months. So, a marriage can be planned as per the Hindu Panchang. The couples can tie the knot irrespective of their horoscopes and planetary positions. On this day, the Manglik individuals can also get married, added the information.
The Dev Uthani Ekadashi is the period when Lord Vishnu wakes from his four-month slumber, which started on Shayani Ekadashi. On this auspicious day, devotees not only plan a wedding union but also engage in other sacred ceremonies like child naming and housewarming. Furthermore, they also observe a fast and worship Lord Vishnu for his blessings and protection.
