Despite fighting COVID, loss of both parents, teenager scores 99.8% in CBSE 10th, tops Bhopal

A 16-year-old, Vanisha Pathak battled COVID-19 and lost both her parents to the deadly virus. The teenager still has not lost hope in life. Vanisha has secured 99.8% marks in the CBSE class 10 results declared on Tuesday. She has topped the examination in Bhopal along with two other students.

Her tenacity and spirit of life have flowed through her pen in a heartfelt poetic note “I will be a strong girl daddy without you”, which she dedicated to her late parents after their departure.

In the poem the girl writes, “I will stand tall”. She claims that both her parents were interested in poetry so writing came naturally to her. She is now taking care of her younger brother who is studying in class 5.

In less than a fortnight, the siblings lost both their parents. His mother died on 4 May and father died on 15 May. Both of them had also tested positive for coronavirus and were placed in home isolation after their aunt, who lives next door, took care of them.

His father Jitendra Pathak was an insurance agent, while his mother Dr Seema Pathak was a government school teacher posted in Bagarsia, Bhopal.

Vanisha said, “It took me a while to recover from the shock, but once I saw my younger brother, I felt a sense of responsibility, who gave me the strength I needed to overcome this personal calamity.” his uncle and aunt.

Her father wanted her to do IIT or civil service to serve the country and the gritty girl is now busy preparing for the engineering entrance – JEE. She will appear for the exam in 2023. “I will give a shot for civil services after graduation”, she said, adding that fulfilling her father’s dream was now her passion.

The strength and resilience seems to run deep in her family as the teenager reveals that even her younger brother didn’t let sadness overwhelm her. “He never cried in front of me, probably thinking it would make me weak.”

His younger brother Vivaan is fond of cricket and his elder sister is planning to enroll him in a cricket academy after the end of Kovid-19.

Vanisha’s principal Sister Pavitra, who met the gritty girl on Wednesday, told News18 that she has always been good at studies and has been an active participant in co-curricular activities as well. Carmel Convent Principal said, “Despite losing her parents, she did not lose heart and went ahead with life with full courage and willpower.”
