New Delhi: Amazon on Thursday announced that users can now ask for music in megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, set alarms and even get weather updates.
This comes after Amazon in September last year announced its partnership with the veteran actor to create a unique user experience for users on Alexa-enabled devices.
India’s first Celebrity Voice feature on Amazon’s digital assistant Alexa is available on Echo devices, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Fire TV Edition, in addition to the Alexa app.

Amazon said in its statement that Indian customers can choose to add Amitabh Bachchan’s voice to their Alexa experience on Echo devices.
Here’s how users can get Amitabh Bachchan’s voice on Alexa-enabled devices:
- Users can start by pressing the mic icon on the Amazon Shopping app (Android only).
- Say “Alexa, introduce me to Amitabh Bachchan” to get an introduction to the feature.
- Then click on the mic icon and say “Find Amitabh Bachchan” and “Find Amit ji” as instructed.
- Thereafter users will have to pay an introductory price of Rs 149 for one year to be able to use this feature.
- Finally, to interact with Bachchan’s voice, use the word ‘Amit ji’.
The Celebrity Voice feature includes content handpicked by veteran superstars. These include stories from his life, a selection of poems from his father, tongue twisters, motivational quotes and more, the statement said.
Bachchan fans can add a special touch to their birthday celebrations by receiving congratulations in his voice, all they have to do is say “Amit ji, it’s my birthday”.
“Working with Amazon to present my voice on Alexa was a new experience bringing together the magic of voice technology and artistic creativity. I am excited that my well-wishers can now interact with me through this new medium, and Looking forward to hearing how they feel about it,” Amitabh Bachchan said about the entire experience of working with Amazon.
“Creating the Amitabh Bachchan celebrity voice experience with one of India’s most iconic voices has been a labor of love”, said Puneesh Kumar, Country Leader for Alexa at Amazon India.
“To create the world’s first bilingual celebrity voice, we need to invent and re-invent almost every element of speech science – the wake word, speech recognition, neural text-to-speech and more,” he said.
