Dengue and mysterious fever have engulfed India. Know your state

New Delhi: Amidst the COVID pandemic, India is now battling dengue and viral fever which has been spreading rapidly for the past few weeks. After outbreaks of dengue and mystery fever since early September, officials have launched a campaign to destroy mosquito breeding grounds, but cases are still rising.

UP is reporting the maximum number of cases, but from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh and Punjab to Telangana, dengue cases have increased in the last few days.

Uttar Pradesh: With two more deaths due to dengue in Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to viral fever in the district rose to 60 on Monday, as reported by PTI.

There are 21 active dengue cases in Ghaziabad, out of which one patient is admitted in the district hospital and the rest in private hospitals. On an average 5 cases are being reported daily. Ghaziabad CMO Dr Bhavtosh Shankhdhar said that the condition of none of the patients is critical.

75-100 patients of fever are coming daily to the OPD of Ursala Hospital. In the rapid test, 2 patients had tested positive for dengue, but this was not confirmed in the ELISA test. Effectively, there is no dengue case in this hospital, Dr Anil Nigam, CMS, Ursala Hospital in Kanpur, was quoted as saying by ANI.

97 cases of dengue have been reported in Prayagraj, out of which 9 patients are admitted in hospitals. No one has died of dengue so far this year. Cases are likely to increase in the city. CMO Nanak Saran said that our preventive efforts are concentrated there.

Maharashtra: According to a civic report released on Tuesday, Mumbai has reported 305 dengue cases since January 2021, including 85 for this month.

During the last full year, the capital of Maharashtra had reported 129 dengue cases. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in its report said that no one has died of the mosquito-borne disease so far this year, while there have been three deaths in 2020.

This year, between September 1 and 12, 85 dengue cases were reported in Mumbai, while 144 cases were reported last month.

As per the civic report, majority of the 85 fresh cases of the disease have been reported from three civic wards – E (Byculla, Chinchpokli, Agripada), G-South (Dadar-East, Sion-East, Matunga, Antop Hill). G-North (Dharavi, Dadar and Mahim).

The BMC report also said that the civic body’s pest control department inspected 4,46,077 houses and detected and destroyed 4,108 mosquito breeding sites as a preventive measure against the disease.

The civic body has said in an advisory that all precautions should be taken to prevent breeding of mosquitoes indoors.

The BMC said it has recently deployed drones to destroy mosquito breeding sites in the city.

Delhi: According to a civic report released on Monday, at least 158 ​​cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital this year.

The number of dengue cases for the period January 1 to September 11 is also the highest this year since 2019, when the count stood at 171 in the same period.

Seventy-two cases were registered in the month of August, which is about 45 per cent of the total cases as per the report.

34 cases have been registered in the first 11 days of September.

Madhya Pradesh: After 150 new cases of mosquito-borne infection and one death were reported in Jabalpur district in the last 24 hours, the state government will launch an anti-dengue campaign from Wednesday, taking the total number of patients in the state to 2,570 since January 1. An official said on Sunday that 95 people are being treated at various hospitals in the state.

Dr Himanshu Jayaswar, MP’s program officer (for control of vector-borne diseases), told PTI that the admission rate of dengue patients in hospitals is around 20 per cent.

A state in Eastern India: Around 400 children suffering from viral flu were admitted to various government hospitals in the last one week. During the interaction with the media, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, who accompanied the CM, said that till now around 300 of them have been discharged from the hospital. However, 87 are still undergoing treatment.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that the government is on alert to contain the outbreak of viral fever.

Karnataka: The monsoon season in Bengaluru has resulted in a steady rise in dengue cases in the city, with the number of dengue cases rising from 102 in May – before the onset of monsoon – to 677 in August. According to a report in the Indian Express, BBMP officials have said that the situation is not alarming.

West Bengal: According to a PTI report on Tuesday, North Bengal has become the epicenter of dengue and mystery fever in the state and at least 130 children have been admitted to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital with high fever and dysentery.

Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Monday urged all the States and Union Territories (UTs) to expedite activities for prevention and control of vector-borne diseases like dengue and reduce the vector density to control these diseases. Called for continuous efforts.
