Air quality due to stubble burning

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday urged the Center to issue an advisory to Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to completely ban stubble burning during Diwali so that people can breathe comfortably after the festival.

In order to control air pollution in the national capital, the Delhi government had launched a campaign ‘Jalao firecrackers nahi diye’ to create awareness against bursting of crackers.

Action is being taken under the Indian Penal Court and relevant provisions of the Explosives Act against anyone who bursts crackers as part of the campaign.
