Delhi Zoo will open from August 1, Entry will be done through online booking only

The Delhi Zoo, which was closed due to the pandemic, is going to reopen. From August 1, the zoo will open in two shifts. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon, while the second shift will be from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Entry to Delhi Zoo will be possible only through online booking. All COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced. Online booking will start from 31st July. Ramesh Pandey, director of the National Zoological Park, gave this information to news agency ANI.

It is surprising that some restrictions have been relaxed despite the COVID-19 situation. Metro and buses have also been allowed to run at full capacity in the national capital from Monday. People will be able to travel by occupying all available seats. However, standing travel is prohibited.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was operating trains with 50 per cent seat capacity from June 7 (when metro services were restored after a long time due to COVID-19).

In view of the increase in the number of passengers, 16 additional gates have also been opened at 16 metro stations to facilitate their movement. DMRC has already opened 260 gates for passengers. Apart from these, 16 more gates have been opened. People can now use 276 gates at all stations. DMRC said that the stations where additional gates have been opened include Janakpuri West, Karol Bagh, Vaishali, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat and MG Road.

The months of April and May in Delhi saw an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the situation has improved in the last few weeks, following which the government is reopening the city in a phased manner. Under the latest unlock guidelines, the Delhi Metro, the lifeline of the national capital, will operate with 100% seating capacity from Monday, but passengers will not be allowed to travel standing up.
